1. Go to the MSN Web Messenger website to sign in to MSN Web Messenger.
2. Click Start MSN Web Messenger, and then try to sign in.
3. If you can sign in to MSN Web Messenger, MSN Messenger may be blocked by a firewall.

Double-click the clock in the notification area, and then verify the date and time settings. The security certificates used to connect to the must have the correct date and time settings.To register the XML library files correctly, click Start, click Run, type the following command, and then click OK:

You will receive a confirmation message when the registration is successfully completed. If you are running Windows XP, you may need to clear the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) state and the AutoComplete history. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Start Microsoft Internet Explorer. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options, and then click the Content tab.
2. Under Certificates, click Clear SSL State.
3. When you receive the message that states that the SSL cache was successfully cleared, click OK.

3. Verify that the date and time settings on your computer are correct, and then click OK to close the Date and Time Properties window.

To verify that you can log on to any site, go to the MSN Account services website, and sign in with your user name and password. If you sign in successfully, you will see the Sign Out button.

If you can't sign in, try to change or reset your password. To do this, go to the MSN Account services website, click Forgot your password?, and then follow the steps.

If this method works, make sure that you use the same credentials to sign in to MSN Messenger, and that any stored passwords are reset by following these steps:

1. In the MSN Messenger sign-in window, clear the Remember my password check box to make the Password box available.
2. Type your password in the Password box, and then select Remember my password.
3. Select Sign me in automatically to turn on automatic sign-in.

If you have any antispyware programs that are running, try to disable them, and then check that you can sign in to MSN Messenger. If you can sign in to MSN Web Messenger, contact the software manufacturer or see the software documentation to determine how to fix the conflicting issue.
