The following keyboard shortcuts can save you time when using MSN Messenger.

| Collapse/Expand a contact group. | Press Left/Right arrow keys. |
| Open a conversation window for an online contact. | Click the contact and press ENTER. |
| Open a contact card. | Click a contact and press ALT+ ENTER. |
| Close a contact card. | Press ESC. |
| Delete or block a contact. | Click a contact and press DELETE. |
| Delete a contact group. | Click a contact group and press DELETE. |
| Find a contact that starts with a certain letter. | Click any contact in your list, and then type the letter. Type it again to go to the next contact that starts with that letter. |
| Rename a contact group. | Click a contact group and press F2. |
| Move focus between buttons, tabs, links, or other elements. | Press TAB (or SHIFT+TAB for reverse order). |
| Move to a different tab. | Press CTRL+ TAB (or CTRL+SHIFT + TAB for reverse order). |
| Send an email to a contact. | Click a contact and press ALT+M. |
| Go to MSN Today. | Press ALT+Y. |
| Add a contact. | Press ALT+O. |

Note
You cannot delete or rename Messenger's default contact groups.
